It sucks because I realized that after today’s World Cup Final and the end of THE DECISION (which, annoying as it was, at least tangentially involved basketball, a sport I enjoy) it’s now that interminable time of year in which the normative American sports of baseball and (American) football dominate at a level far beyond what basketball and (real) football could ever hope to achieve in this country, assaulting your brain no matter how much you try to avoid them. NFL football is particularly annoying, with more franchises, more games per week and fantasy leagues now somehow seen as an acceptable thing to engage in by seemingly everyone and not the most pathetically geeky thing on earth since ferret ownership and Dr. Who fandom. The worst is trying to keep track of the endlessly complex and seemingly arbitrary rivalries between the various franchises of the northeast and mid-atlantic, rendered even more recondite by the fact that for some reason there are two “New York” teams, which actually share a fucking stadium, which not in New York, yet for some reason people are fans of one and not the other! Why the fuck is that!? Wait, don’t answer that, I don’t fucking care.

People Aren’t Speculating Enough About the Lebron Thing
I don’t think there’s been quite enough speculation about what Lebron may decide. People aren’t going “outside of the box” enough with possible scenarios. For instance, maybe he’ll go to college team because he’s never played at that level and he wants to get involved in some campus hijinx? Or - dark horse here - signs with the Harmlem Globetrotters. Or - even darker horse- signs with the Washington Generals because they’re looking for real talent to end their 39-year drought against the Globetrotters.
